As an AI, I do not have personal experiences. However, I can provide information on Chow Chows. Chow Chows are known for their distinctive lion-like mane and blue-black tongue. They are independent, aloof, and can be stubborn, so they require early socialization and training. Chow Chows are loyal and protective of their families, making them excellent guard dogs. **

Chow Chows are rarely seen anymore because they are not as popular as other breeds, and their unique temperament and grooming needs may not be suitable for every owner. Additionally, their strong-willed and independent nature can make them challenging to train and handle for some people. Furthermore, their thick double coat requires regular grooming and maintenance, which can be a deterrent for potential owners. As a result, Chow Chows are not as commonly seen as other more popular breeds. **

Fur loss in Chow Chows can manifest as patchy areas of hair loss on their body, particularly on their back and tail. This can be due to various reasons such as allergies, hormonal imbalances, or skin infections. It is important to consult a veterinarian to determine the underlying cause of fur loss in Chow Chows and to provide appropriate treatment. Regular grooming and a balanced diet can also help maintain a healthy coat for Chow Chows. **

Chow Chows, like all dogs, should not be euthanized in shelters unless they pose a serious threat to public safety or have severe health issues that cannot be managed. Every effort should be made to find them a suitable home or placement with a rescue organization. Chow Chows, like any breed, can be wonderful pets with the right training and care, and they deserve a chance to find a loving home. It is important for shelters to work with experienced rescue groups and behaviorists to give these dogs the best chance at finding a new home. **

Chow Chows do have some unique behavioral traits that set them apart from other dog breeds. They are known for being independent, aloof, and sometimes stubborn, which can make them appear less "dog-like" compared to more eager-to-please breeds. However, with proper training and socialization, Chow Chows can be loyal, affectionate, and well-behaved companions. It's important to understand and respect their individual personality and needs in order to have a positive relationship with a Chow Chow. **

Yes, it is true that Chow Chows are generally considered to be an expensive breed. This is due to their unique appearance, rarity, and the cost of breeding and raising them. Reputable breeders who prioritize the health and well-being of their dogs may charge even higher prices for Chow Chows, as they invest in proper care, health testing, and socialization of their puppies. It is important to do thorough research and choose a responsible breeder when considering adding a Chow Chow to your family. **

Chow Chows have a blue-black tongue due to a genetic trait that is unique to their breed. This trait is thought to have developed as a result of their ancient origins in China, where the blue tongue was seen as a sign of good luck and was highly prized. The exact reason for this unique trait is not fully understood, but it is believed to be a result of a genetic mutation that has been passed down through generations of Chow Chows. This distinctive feature has become a defining characteristic of the breed and sets them apart from other dog breeds. **
